Laura’s 10 years living in Honduras, where she co-founded and served as Executive Director of Reach Out Honduras, deeply inspired her path into immigration law. While there, Laura and her husband, Alex, collaborated with the indigenous Miskito people to establish a middle and high school. Through this experience, Laura witnessed first-hand why people leave everything behind and embark on a very dangerous journey across borders in search of a way to meet the basic needs of their families.
With over 30 years of experience as an attorney, Laura worked as a Supervising Attorney at Eagan Immigration in Washington, DC, before joining the team. There, she focused on advocating for clients with complex immigration histories. Specializing in humanitarian immigration relief for victims of abuse, crime, and trafficking (VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa), Laura is passionate about educating others. She leads Know Your Rights seminars and Kind Conversations About Immigration classes at churches and in the community. Additionally, Laura serves on the Board of Directors for Despierta.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys gardening, hiking, exploring different cultures, reading, and spending quality time with her husband and five children.
